POUR ON THE OLIVE OIL

Olives and olive oil long an essential part of the Mediterranean diet are high in monounsturated fat, which can reduce "bad" cholesterol in the blood. This is turn helps reduce the likelihood of stroke. A 2017 study by researchers at Temple University showed that eating extra virgin olive oil protects against the development of plaques and tangles characteristic of Alzheimer's. The same study also showed that olive oil support memory and learning ability . Many nutritionist recommend the exclusive use of olive oil for fat in the diet. Olive and olive oil also contain polyphenols, which r educe oxidative stress ( Free Radicals ) in the brain. The update is that eating olive oil every day can help improve brain function and support memory. TURN OFF THE NOISE

A recent study shows that continued exposure to loud noises permanently affects you ability to process speech. It's not just your hearing that can be affected by loud noises --It's your brains! The cumulative effect of this process may explain why older people have difficulty learning and memorizing -because their brains have greater difficulty filtering out useless stimuli, such as music or conversation. Their brains take in everything. People who are sensitive to noise may also find their mood negatively effected by loud sounds. They are also subject to sleep problems and lower cognitive performance. Whether you have a particular sensitivity to noise or not, a little quiet helps calm you down. And by a little we means a little. A recent study suggests that just two minutes of silence can conger big health benefits, mostly by helping the body relax. Another study showed that two-hour quiet periods each day helped (rat) brains grow more cells in the hippocampus, the memor

DAYDREAMING!

To put yourself into a stat of mind that can lead to real rest, give yourself a change to let your mind wander. This is not a meditation at all in any formal sense To do it, sit or lie down comfortably when you can be alone and uninterrupted for an hour. Turn lights down or off and eliminate outside noises and distractions. Close your eyes and let yourself experience the silence around you. Don't try to focus on any one thought or ideas. This isn't mantra mediation. Breathe in a way that's comfortable. You can consciously slow your breathe down to aid in relaxation, but don't turn it into a struggle. As you do this, let your mind wander whenever it want to go, like a puppy let outside for an airing. Follow it if you wish see what interests it, but make no judgments. Don't push or move your mind in any particular direction. Let it go where it wants. That is the key here. So much meditation tries to harness the mind, tether it like a goat on a rope as bait for la

YOUR BRAIN FIGHT WITH ARTIFICIAL SWEETENERS

All systems in the human body are vulnerable to environmental hazards such as toxic chemicals. But the nervous system, including your brain, is at special risk for some very important reasons; Nerve cell loss and other changes to the nervous system occur progressively during the later years of life. As a result, toxic damage many occur simultaneously with aging.  May neurotoxic chemicals are easily able to cross the blood-brain barrier, causing damage to sensitive regions of the brain.  Toxic chemicals often interfere with the nervous system's sensitive electrochemical balance, inhibiting the proper communication of information throughout the body.  To help your brain out, avoid artificial sweeteners, lead ( such as lead based paints), mercury, and pesticides. TAKE A BREAK

When you've got a big project staring you in the face, it's tempting just to grind it out, getting up from your chair only to pour more coffee. (But who are we kidding? You've got the coffee pot sitting on your desk.) However, research shows this single-minded focus will backfire after a while. Just as kinds at school need a recess to recharge, adults at work need to take a break now and then. A recent study from the University of Illinos at Urbana-champaign showed that taking a short break can improve your ability to focus on a task. Researchers theorize that your brain gradually loses focus when stimulated by the same thing over and over (sort of like how you learn to ignore the ticking of a clock). By giving your brain something else to chew on for a few minutes, you can return to the original task with more focus. In the study, people who interrupted a long task with brief breaks showed no loss of performance over the course of fifty minutes, while multitasking, whe

SMELL THE PRIMROSE

Evening primrose oil been shown to help lower blood cholesterol, which is good for your circulatory system and thus good for your brain. Some studies have also shown that it helps enhance memory and can calm hyperactive mental states, although research regarding it's usefulness in treating attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) has been mixed. Swedish studies, though preliminary, are relating evening primrose oil to an antioxidant that counteracts the formation of free radicals, which are destructive to brain health. If you have seizures or schizophrenia and take medications to treat it or take blood pressure medication, check with your healthcare provider before taking primrose oil supplements    These articles may be used only for Educational Purposes.  You can share it with your friends and families through social media . OTHER WAY TO REMEMBER THINGS

One way to improve your memory is to speak out loud . One researcher found that when people were asked to memorize a list, those who read it out load were able to remember better than those who read it silently. Reading out load uses the auditory pathways of the brain . not just the visual , helping the brain to remember. A study conducted by researchers at the University of de Montreal found similar results, although in that study researchers theorize that increasing the number of "aspects" to the information ( the movement of your mount, using speech, etc.) Help you remember it. In other words, the multisensory approach helps your brain remember and recall. So if you're studying for a test or trying to remember the three you need from the grocery store say it out load. But don't try it at the library ! I think during of exam time, we probably need soundproof room 😆    These articles may be used only for Educational Purposes.  You can share it with your fr

SHARE YOUR KNOWLEDGE

To boost you brain teach a continuing education class. In addition to the joy that comes with sharing you life wisdom. Teaching is also a great way for you to learn new things ("While we tech, we learn," said the great Roman philosopher Seneca). Plus, teaching can provide a useful social outlet and feeling of purpose. Everyone is adept to something, so choose your specialty, approach a local continuing education program and improve the world with your knowledge. LET'S HANG OUT 😀

One of the best ways to spark up your brain is to have an intellectually stimulating conversation. Trying to wrap your mind around new ideas and concepts forces you brain to wake up and pay attention. By surrounding yourself  with smart people who can challenge your thinking, you'll improve your cognition and memory. Having a debate with a friend isn't just socializing -although socializing is also good for your brain, it forces you to make logical connections between ideas and to do it on the fly. (Working under pressure is a great way to stimulate those little gray cells.) Plus, you'll probably learn something new.    These articles may be used only for Educational Purposes.  You can share it with your friends and families through social media . YOUR BRAIN LOVES VIDEO GAMES AS WELL!

It doesn't matter if it's Wii, Xbox, or PlayStation, playing video games can improve you brain as well as build and-eye coordination and spatial visualization ( the ability to imagine moving and rotating two-and three-dimensional objects). Research in Belgium analyzed the brains of 150 teenagers. They found that the ones who played video games regularly had more cells in the left ventral stratum of their brains - the part of the brain connected to emotions and behavior. Other studies have shown that those who play action games build stronger perception, attention, dissuasion making and cognition skills than non-game players, So plug in a Call of Duty and get going!     These articles may be used only for Educational Purposes.  You can share it with your friends and families through social media . LISTEN THE MUSIC YOU LIKE

Scientific research suggest our brains are hardwired to appreciate music, in fact, some researchers say that listening music can help people who suffer from neurodegenerative diseases like Parkinson's. Elena Mannes, author of The power of the music, says that music stimulates more parts of the brain than anything else we do. This is why she believe music therapy is so important for anyone who has lost brain functions.  Researchers have found that the same pleasure centers of the brain that are positively stimulated by food and sex are also affected by music . Any music that sends chills up your spine has a direct effect upon your mood. When you use music that is particularly stimulating to you in a positive way, you can experience a host of positive effects that include elevating your mood and feeling more content, relaxed, energized, or turned on. You Choice of music is you own. But whether you like Beethoven or the Beatles, hop hop or country and western, sit back and list

BE PRESENT

Practitioners of yoga, transcendental meditation, all know that being mindful contributes to having a happier, less stressful life. Mindfulness is often practiced in association with meditation, where one is mindful of one's breathing and another is thoughts. More generally, the practice of mindfulness helps train the mind to avoid negative patterns and thought processes, vicious circles of failure, low self-esteem, and even the perception of chronic pain as an intensely negative experience. The brain is a complex and amazing organ, and mindfulness can teach you to harness your mind's power, integrate your mind and body, and feed your hungry spirit. The key is not to spend too much time regretting the past or worrying about the future. Instead, focus intently on what you are doing in the present moment.  These articles may be used only for Educational Purposes.  You can share it with your friends and families through social media . WHY SO LAZY?

One Important way to stimulate your brain and get it working hard is to push yourself out of your comfort zone! This can mean learning new skills and information, meeting new people, and making great memories. You could; Travel somewhere you've never been Go to a meeting of an organization you don't know much about Say hello to people in your neighborhood  Go on a dating site, behind my understanding!  Try food you've never tasted before Any one of these things --and lots of others will stimulate your brain and keep it active and happy 😆 These articles may be used only for Educational Purposes.  You can share it with your friends and families through social media . CHALLENGE YOUR BRAIN

Being multilingual has many benefits for your brain. Learning a foreign language is mentally challenging because it requires the thoughtful assimilation of new information and a strong memory. Your brain benefit when you struggle with those verbs, over grammatical structure, force yourself to practice speaking the target language at every opportunity, and stick with it even when it seems futile. The minute it feels like your brain is stretching , you're already succeeding. Once you've learned a new language, reward yourself with vacation to a country where it is spoken. Not only can you practice speaking the new language, but you can learn more about the country's culture. Your brain will thank you. Only Humans have brains big enough to come up with so many different ways to say the - the same thing.  These articles may be used only for Educational Purposes.  You can share it with your friends and families through social media . TRY DIFFERENT TYPES OF FRUITS

Eating a variety of fruits and vegetables is key to a healthy diet and a health brain. Different types of fruits and vegetable are rich in different essential nutrients, such as vitamins, minerals and fiber --not to mention micronutrients.  Eating a variety of food ensures a greater intake of these essential nutrients. Aim to try different types of throughout the week. One tip; make sure the food on your plate includes lots of different colors. If everything's white or beige -potato, rice, chicken --that's recipe for disaster. Another tip; each week, pick up a new fruit or vegetable at the grocery store or farmer's market and try it in a variety of dishes. Don't keep relying on the same five or six old favorites. Whether you choose fresh, frozen, canned, dried, or juice, your brain will benefit. Bur remember hat juices and canned fruits do not provide as much fiber as the other types, so it is best to eat the whole fruit or vegetable more often. Eat at least two s

USE THE EIGHT SECOND RULE

Face it. We all have so much information coming at us that it's a wonderful we remember any of it! But this simple trick will help you move information from your  short-terms (working) memory into your long-terms memory; think about the information for at least eight seconds. You can't assume that because something flashed across your mind, you'll remember it. If a piece of information doesn't go into your long-terms storage banks, you won't remember it. Researchers have found that it takes at least eight second for something new to get stored in our long-terms memories, where we can retrieve it. So, concentrate on new information, repeat it a few times, then quiz yourself. RELAX!

In the late 1960s, Harvard cardiologist Herbert Benson, MD discovered that relaxation methods could counterbalance both the psychological and physiological changes caused by the body's fight-or fight response. He called this the "relaxation response." Benson's tests showed that people who simply sat quietly for ten or fifteen minutes with their minds focused on a single word, ideas or thought could markedly change their physiology. These subjects decreased their metabolism, showed their heart and respiratory rates, and exhibited brain waves of the alpha-theta pattern, which indicates deep relaxation (but not sleep). Benson showed that the relaxation response, no matter how it was achieved, caused bodily transformations. It caused heart rate, breathing rate, muscle tension, and oxygen consumption to fall below resting levels; it encouraged decreases in blood pressure; and it helped the waking brain shift into the slower patterns associated with reverie and daydreami
